Waheedullah Sediqzada 3 months ago 1 min read

The latest deluges, according to Deputy Minister of State for Disaster Management Sharafuddin Muslim, wreaked havoc on the provinces of Faryab and Parwan, as well as other parts of Afghanistan.

Over the last five days, flash floods and storms have ravaged various Afghan regions, killing at least 20 people.

Muslim stated in a video statement that “18 to 20 individuals have been killed across ten provinces” and that “over 100 houses have been demolished.”

Two people are still missing, and another 30 people have been wounded.

He claimed that relief teams with tents and food have been dispatched to the impacted areas, and that officials are providing cash assistance to the relatives of those deceased.

More than 260 homes have been rendered unusable, 19 homes have been completely destroyed, 500 acres of land have been damaged, and 120 livestock have died, according to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA).

Meanwhile, the Afghan Meteorological Department has warned that flood induced by heavy rainfall is still a threat in 27 provinces across the country.

The flooding this year occurred as the country celebrated Eid al Fitr, the conclusion of the Ramadan fasting month, on Saturday.
