The Taliban Suppresses the Women’s Protest in front of Laisa Maryam –

Waheedullah Sediqzada 1 month ago 1 min read

Taliban forces suppressed women protesting in front of Laisa Maryam in Kabul over the barring of girls from school.

On Thursday, 26th May, a group of women demonstrated in front of Maryam High School (Laisa Maryam) in Kabul chanting the slogan “Bread, work and education”, which indicates nine months of deprivation of girls from schools.

The protesters also carried the message “Education is our Right,” and one of the protesters told the media that the school closures were discriminatory against women.

Women’s target killings have increased, according to the demonstrators, and the Taliban have banned women from all social, cultural, and political structures.

The Taliban are claimed to have come minutes after the protest and used aerial firings and violence to disperse the crowd of demonstrators.

Meanwhile, the Taliban have regularly suppressed protests by girls and women, and a number of protesters have been arrested in one of these protests.

Throughout their demonstrations, the demands of the protesting women have been clear. They demand the right to an education, citizen rights, and participation in national, cultural, and political decision-making.
